we all know "ren zi cu xing ben shan", which means we are all born to be inherently good. but is that really the case? i dun think so... i believe upon birth the good and evil side of us exist in equilibrium, and that it is as easy to cultivate either side.
in one of his works, Plato theorized that we are all implanted with an inherent knowledge -- a knowledge that encompasses anything in the world. that is, we actually know everything regarding this world, just that we have not discovered them yet. Plato supported this with a story of how Socrates, just by asking a progressive set of questions, led an uneducated servant boy to discover a geometrical theorem that the boy cannot possibly have learnt before. For more details about this go google "Meno".
i believe this inherent-ness also applies to our evil side. In my view, there is no Satan, or at least, a supernatural deity thing that embodies evil. The real Satan is within us. theres this crime case where the criminal blamed his actions on Satan, as he felt a prescence in his room after he performed a black magic ritual. but i feel this prescence here is really his evil side awakening.
go listen to the tracks on The Umbersun by Elend :
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000088A0/qid=1150350687/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-4392941-1034407?s=music&v=glance&n=5174and you will see what i mean. you will be like, omg, fucking evil and scary la, but imagine the composer is human like all of us. if one gets in touch with his or her darker side more often enough, it is not surprising one can come up with a similar composition. cos, again, i believe that we are all born withn the same equilibrium of good and evil within us. i dun think hitler was born evil, for that matter.
go
www.crimelibrary.com and under "Most Notorious", click "Mary Bell". she seems to be a female Damien, but after you read her family background its kind of understandable. subject princess diana or mother teresa to the same childhood environment and there will very likely be 2 more mary bells.
since nobody's life experiences are the same, thus this explains why for everyone there will be varying compositions of good and evil in them. we are all born with (if you mind the christian context) with God and Satan inside us. yeah, brings to mind those cartoons with the angel and devil arguing over the character's head. just that if u speak to God more often, you will become more Godlike (hahaha) and if you speak to Satan more often you will more evil.
and seriously, really do go listen to the Umbersun above. its a unique experience hahahaa but i dun think im gg to download it and listen to it while sitting on the bus
