first day of attachment. changi general hospital. learnt so much, seen so much, experienced so much within 7 hours.
saw 2-3 cases of fits/epilepsy/seizures. all were rather old patients. one shook so much that she knocked things around her and had multiple wounds. the other convulse until fracture her arm.
saw Shortness of Breath cases. all pretty unstable. theres this SpO2 reading that measures your blood oxygen level. normal ppl is 97-100 liddat. 95 and beloww is considered respiratory distress alr. the person i saw was like 61 la. utterly gay. his usage of neck, stomach and intercostal muscles to breathe was super obvious
then there was this Courts guy came in with dislocated shoulder. he said the had this 30 over times alr but everytime he fixed it back himself. now this time he couldnt. hahaha so they gave him Entonox, which is something like a laughing gas to reduce his pain and so make fixing back easier. it was obviously making him high but he wanted more so he said not enough. hahaha the doctor gave him a freaking THREE doses of sedatives/tranquilizers la. like putting down elephant liddat.
got this guy came in with blood all over him cos some glass panel exploded and all the shards missled into his back and hands. he was wearing a red polo tee and i was like saying aloud his shirt confirm was originally white hahahha. but anw got to witness stiching of those gaping wounds. the wounds were like oozing both blood and ba-chor-mee-ba-chor-like-flesh at the same time.
and of course got highlight of the day. got this korean guy came in with 41 degree celsius fever and vomitting and confusion and diarrhoea. got to witness penis catheterizatiob process. fucking er. for all those who dunno wad it is it is basically swabbing your penis tip (pull back skin first) with alcohol, then poke one syringe full of lubricant into the hole (yes the pee hole), injecting all of the gel, then inserting this 30cm long rubber tube into your pee hole up your penis and all the way into your bladder. not to mention all the while he was loosing his brownish yellow shit all over the bedsheets
and really the hospital is a place of sadness la. right outside the resusitation area is the Dead On Arrival place. can see all the family members sitting on the chairs outside the rooms crying openly and loudly.
and then being said i really repsect those doctors la. all super cheerful. got this female doctor whole day smiling. like she was injecting this about to die patient and all the while she was smiling and talking to a collegue abt christmas coming and whatevernot. its really life in a place of death la
tmr will be gg cgh again. cant wait tho its super tiring
