its a sad fact of life (and death) that the thing that is most effective in making you realize the importance and fraility of life is the sudden occurance of death itself.
especially the fact that the death concerned here is of a young life.
even especially emphasized by the fact that one has more than one friend/second-degree friend dying suddenly, at so young an age.
the extinguishing of a freshly-lit flame all but reveals more starkly the stifling darkness that follows
