is it the destination that is of importance, or the journey, the road towards the end?
is it the light at the end of the road, or the road leading to the light at the end?
sometimes people think that the road gives indication of the nature of the destination at the end; one road that is marked with ruts and bumps and winds with numerous tribulations may hint at a worthy reward in store at road's end; yet sometimes that is mere fairytale, that all effort will be rewarded accordingly. but alas, reality is no fairytale; Aesop and the Brothers Grimm are but beings of artificial construction.
indeed, it is often devastating to anyone who has put in so much effort towards a particular cause, hoping that he will indeed reap what he sows, and all he shall receive are plagues and disasters. indeed, faith is for the blind, people with an external locus of control.
alas, we are indeed but moths to the light; we endeavour relentlessly towards it, held by our steadfast belief that all good shall come from our striving; yet in turn we are destroyed by the light at the end of our journey, the very thing we have fought so much for
